Carbon Sinking Mobile Playground

Can a playground sustain itself?

A durable, mobile playground with the idea that objects which hold value to a ‘common space’ and its community will not only be used, but also taken care of and maintained by its users. Next to a playground for community center VrIJland, and in line with this thought, the design serves as a case study for the PhD of Riel Bessai (TU Delft), researching how carbon can be stored in a more durable way when ‘commoned.’

Blocks of different sizes, wood types and colors make an intuitive playground. Kids learn to play with balance, gravity and composition. The blocks are stored efficiently in plywood boxes that can be rolled around on a card.
